FAQ: FAQ

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a complimentary health therapy which offers a relaxing treatment that aims to positively support your overall health and wellbeing.

The treatment is based on the principles that there are specific areas and points on the feet, hands, face and ears that map to each system and part of the body.  By using specialist techniques to apply gentle pressure to the reflex points, the nerve endings are stimulated which aims to bring about a state of relaxation and help to restore natural balance (homeostasis) within the body.  The body's ability to maintain balance can be compromised and disrupted due to stress, injury or illness.

How should I prepare for my first treatment?

At the start of every session, I will spend some time asking you about your health and wellbeing and aims of the treatment.  During the first session we will also complete a medical history form.

Using a lovely organic foot balm, I will start by performing an opening routine to warm up the feet before moving on to work each of the reflex points applying gentle pressure.

Should you decide to book again, I will develop an individual treatment plan based on my initial findings and any specific concerns you may have.

The treatment aims to bring about a state of relaxation and calm, helping to restore natural balance within the body.  You may find you experience one or more of the following during the session which are all completely normal - gurgling or the feeling of 'butterflies' in your stomach, tingling sensations throughout the body, falling asleep or feeling very tired following the treatment.

What should I expect from my first session?

After one or two treatments, most people feel an improved sense of wellbeing and experience a feeling of deep relaxation.  If you are coming for a specific condition you may also feel a sense of relief.

Occasionally, as part of the healing process some clients may experience a mild headache, feel tired or need to go to the toilet more often following their treatment.  These are all completely normal and should disappear within 24 to 48 hours.
